Scott Pilgrim vs. The World

Imagine the craziest day-dreams you have ever had, fit them all into roughly an hour and a half and you wont event have half of how imaginative and funny Scott Pilgrim vs The World is!

Scott Pilgrim (played by Michael Cera) is your average, slightly nerdy twenty something year old who lives with his gay flat mate (played by Kieran Culkin) is also the bass player is in a band called Sex bob-omb. Scott starts dating a high school student named Knives Chau (played by Ellen Wong) when he falls for a girl (with very bright hair) named Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and subsequently ends his relationship with Knives leaving her heartbroken and a little crazy.

In the beginning, it would appear Scott has got the girl (Ramona), however as the story unfolds you learn to find that she has a list of evil and jealous ex’s… Scott has to fight off Ramona’s league of 7 evil ex’s to win her over, they consist of some very strange characters… including a skateboarder, twins, Scott’s ex girlfriends current boyfriend, and a very crazy girl…. all of which have very unusual and imaginative styling , make up and outfits. At the same time Sex Bob-omb are competing in battle of the bands to win a record label, my gosh this boy has a lot on his plate!

As to not ruin the ending I will not elaborate any more on the story line..!

This film is absolutely fantastic, a must see and will definitely cheer you up from all of the horrific grey, dismal wet weather we have been having!

Go and see it… now!

4/5

24.Aug.2010 Miss Great Britains 65th Anniversary celebration!

Miss Great Britain Celebrates its 65th Birthday

with CETUEM Cosmetics

Miss Great Britain, the most prestigious beauty contest in the UK, celebrated its 65th anniversary on 18th August, at The Red Room, Les Ambassadeurs, London’s most select VIP private members’ club.

Former Miss Great Britain, the lovely Liz Fuller, has finally regained full ownership of the beauty pageant, which has been seen as a National Treasure in the Nation’s eyes for 65 years!

The beauty pageant was first run in the Lancashire seaside town of Morcambe in 1945, previously named “Bathing Beauties”.  It was designed to inject a little glamour in the rather dull and gloomy post war years in Britain.

Over the years the pageant has seen very few changes as it was run by men and therefore very little input from a feminine eye, and therefore became rather old fashioned and traditionalistic.

With the ownership now down to Liz Fuller and her talent for spotting real beauty, the pageant is set to go from strength to strength.

This was indeed validated in the gorgeous Red Room at Les Ambassadeurs on Park Lane as what can only be described as a bevy of beauties; including the current Miss Great Britain Sophie Gradon, breezed past, all at least a foot taller than myself and each more lovely than the last!

As these gorgeous creatures sipped the Italian liqueurs, (sponsored by La Materdomini-Antica Distilleria Russo…try asking for your third one of those!) the DJ played on into the night and believe me, a good night was had by all.

Liz Fuller, News of the world Journalists, East Enders actress Carol Harrison and Fashiontv’s blog editor Emm Hobbs and male blogger Mr DVB

I wish Liz all the success with her venture, and of course am offering my services as a judge if needed!  The glittering final will be taking place on Saturday the 6th of November at the Weston Super Mare Pier and for further information or your chance to apply as an aspiring beauty queen, do visit the website www.missgreatbritain.co.uk

See you around, no doubt.

23.Aug.2010 Vivienne Westwood Anglomania For Melissa!

This season, one of my favourite collection of shoes to wear is the Vivienne Westwood Anglomania For Melissa.

It is usually very hard to find shoes that don’t just look fabulous, but don’t cripple your feet at the same time.

These quirky shoes really bring an outfit to life, available in a beautiful range of shapes and sizes you are guaranteed to find a pair to suit your taste and needs!  One of the best things about them is, you can wear them to the office and meetings in the all day and continue to wear them through out  the evening for an event or dinner date.

Not only is there not an outfit they can’t go with but they are tremendously comfortable (and smell like bubblegum)! I wore the Zen Girl red studded heart shoes to an event last week that I attended straight after a full day in the office. I had so many comments about how fabulous they looked and how some of the girls were envious of my lack of foot pain I didn’t have to endure for the evening!

I always get asked by friends asking where I got them from;

the Melissa Vivienne Westwood shoes are available  to purchase from Van Mildert is the North’s leading designer boutique with collections from the most influential designers including Vivienne Westwood, Marc Jacobs, Burberry, Aquascutum, Paul Smith, Ted Baker, and many more.

21.Aug.2010 Mens Styling to Impress :What to Wear Now AW 2010

I love styling men, there are so many fantastic clothes out there. Men should wear great colours that suit them, cool designs and expensive shoes. I like Etro for shirts, jackets and coats. This is a great easy coat to wear for Autumn days.

Leather is hot for this Autumn. Zegna make great suits for a classic fit, and this season check out the leather shearling jackets. Prada, D and G, Etro, Armani all have versions. This jacket and chunky polo neck will make you look broader, taller and is very sexy.

Lanvin rocks! Each season visit for cool jackets, fabulous suits and uber stylish ties.If you have not yet been to Savile Row this season is the time to go.

Cheap shoes will drive women away trust me. The number of conversations women have about tasteless shoes would be a revelation to men. Several of my friends have rejected advances purely because of shoes! Prada make fantastic trainers and loafers. Alexander McQueen does a privately ordered range at Harrods. Cheap shoes cheapen the whole outfit. Buy less and buy good. For work shoes Church’s and Prada make nice shoes that if you are typical of the men I know will last for 10 years or more. Cost per wear becomes negligible. Women’s shoes cost far more and last about 6 months!

Also at Prada this season is lovely wearable autumnal colours. Combine a blue shirt with a soft brown jumper and jacket for effortless style. The jumper in the shops is longer!

Cashmere jumpers are lovely, and there are great colours out there for men, Dunhill, Aquascutum, with their new design team, Armani and Ralph Lauren all make fantastic designs. They are seriously nice to wear and soft to the touch- cuddly. Try the ones styled with a collar like a long sleeve polo shirt. Also hitting the shops are ski jumpers this is seriously nice from D and G.

Mens styling for very tall men is harder, there are many men out there over 6’4”, it has taken me ages to source clothes for them. High and Mighty is a good source but the suit quality and selection for slim men is poor. I suggest their Ralph Lauren range and to go elsewhere for bespoke tailoring for suits and shirts. The Italian suit maker Sartoria is great and reasonably priced. Segun Adelaja has clothes to dream about. Very elegant and sophisticated, classic with a twist. Timothy Everest, does a range at Marks and Spencers.

Ties again should be expensive, forget  polyester, big spots or “funny” ties go for silk. Buy Hermes, Lanvin, Salvatore Ferragamo, to instantly upgrade your look under £100.

11.Aug.2010 Bus compliments

My attempt to make my way home yesterday evening from the Oxford Circus area was horrific… the Tube was dangerously full, there were people everywhere, it was not a good experience! I ended up having to get on a hot crowded bus that didn’t really go anywhere near my house.

This caused a lot of frustration for myself, also due to the fact I had to stand in between a group of sweaty men… however, eventually I managed to find a seat. on the back row next to a gentleman having a little nap and two girls with several shopping bags. I was very thankful to have found a seat however, the two girls kept looking at me. This elevated my frustration and I started to feel a little annoyed with them, to my surprise the girl sat next to me and asked “Excuse me where did you get your nail varnish from?”

I responded and explained I actually received it at a celebrity gifting suite I attended a month or so back so I was unsure of where to buy it, I offered to write it down as the girl insisted she had to purchase the colour as she liked it so much. I have never had a complete stranger stop to ask me where I bought my nail varnish from it was quite strange… however, I can see why as the brand and this particular colour (which happens to be my favourite out of the whole current collection), speaks for itself in both quality and vibrance.

So, drumroll please… the brand colour currently on my nails attached to the very fingers currently writing this blog is….

Leighton Denny - The Heiress

I have fallen in love with Leightons products, and as you can see they obviously work and turn heads! A brand that I will continue to use for years to come!

The Heiress is just £11 for a 12ml bottle

and can be purchased from here www.leightondenny.com

10.Aug.2010 Lily Allen

As i’m sure you all have heard recently, Lily Allen has announced that she is pregnant.

She performed her last gig for a good while this weekend at the Big Chill in Herefordshire. Its reported the star apologised for her appearance on stage saying “Excuse my casual attire but i’m pregnant and this is called The Big Chill”.

Lily Allen (Pic:Getty Images)

“I went to stay the night with my dad and packed a few pairs of high heels and dresses.

“But my boyfriend unpacked the high heels and said, ‘You will fall over’ – hence the lumberjack look.”

I must say Lily, usually you look absolutely stunning in your vintage ensembles…. however I am not loving this look one little bit, you could have at least put a waist belt on to show off your bump! Hopefully she will go back to her usual fantastic style in the upcoming weeks or take a leaf out of Christina Applegate’s book, who looked absolutely radiant at the Cats and Dogs premiere!

Glamorous + bump = YES YES YES!
