Ever since I met the talented fashion designer Emmy Collins at an evening out last year at Floridita in Wardour Street, London I have been a massive fan. His menswear designs that include; an amazingly vast spectrum of colour, funky twists on both rock n roll and classical styles and amazing cut-glass tailoring, guarantees their wearers to stand out from the crowd. With fashion influences such as Jimmi Hendrix, Al Green and renowned afro beat musician Fela Anikulapo, it’s no wonder that Emmy’s designs are so exciting and funky.

Emmy has been quoted saying the “East End of London is the new West End”. So it is no surprise that he chose the trendy area of Shoreditch, East London as the location for his new showroom. The grand opening of the showroom was held on the 24th of November, hosted by Brian Friedman and as promised it was a fantastically executed celebration of flamboyancy paired with style.
Guest of honour, host and brand ambassador Brian Friedman (wearing a stunning grey suit jacket by Emmy of course!) made a grand entrance when he arrived at the red carpet event, held at the new Emmy Collins showroom, located on 87 Great Eastern Street, Shoreditch, London. Pulling up in a traditional London black cab, with a picture of him wearing one of Emmy’s creations painted on the side of it, Brian soaked up the full attention of the paparazzi before heading inside to join the party.
Outspoken and glitzy diva Janice Dickinson and glamorous fashion and showbiz presenter Lizzy Cundy were next to walk the red carpet to attend the launch.
Inside there was an abundance of champagne being sipped by a very cool, fashionable crowd who were busy admiring Emmy’s latest spring/ summer collection 2011, which was proudly exhibited on mannequins around the showroom. Speaking about Emmy’s latest collection, Brian Friedman described it as fun, and knowing no boundaries. One other notable piece on display was an exquisite pink and black ladies suit. When asked about his possible foray into the world of women’s collections Emmy stated that he was just ‘playing around’ at the moment, but he promised us a full female fashion range for spring/ summer 2012. I will be keeping all of you fashion conscious ladies posted….
Afterwards, the party moved on exclusive restaurant and live music bar Lena, also located on Great Eastern Street for more drinks, canapés and dancing into the night. A truly wonderful end to a wonderful evening. Congratulations and many thanks to Emmy Collins!
