Ok where do I start?
Just saw the AW11 Eun Jeong collection in London, one word – wow!
Since we are currently in the season we are writing about, it made it all that more easier to imagine myself immersed in Eun Jeong’s collection. Everything about it screamed glamour and effortless class. Eun did not miss a thing, each detail from the hair to the socks were noted.
Women of the 1930s era were confident and chic, as we saw from Jeong’s inspired collection today. It was all about asymmetric tailoring, different combinations of fabrics for texture and intricate back detail that worked to flatter the body.
I got to speak with the infamous designer backstage and she said: “It was a busy time putting this together. I worked with lots of different fabrics, unusual combinations to create texture. It was a challenge, but it’s been great!”
The models wore confidence. Behind the dresses lay an embodiment of loose ruffles for movement, lines and gathers. In addition, there were flashes of skin to tease the onlooker. The tightness of the right side compared with the flowing texture to the left spoke beauty.
Pleats played a huge part in the show, on short skirts, long skirts, even dresses in warm leafy colours, clays, beiges and yellows. This dress is out of the world. Tilda Swinton I envision this one on you. The orange and yellow print silk dress seemed to be a favourite – who said winter couldn’t have colour?
Also on the runway were cute thigh high woollen socks scrunched at the top to peep over the top of black boots – no doubt another key autumn look.
Jonathan Long, Creative Director of Lockonego created hairstyles that identified the Eun woman to be coy yet sexy. It was the kind of appeal that seemed effortless. Each chignon was loosely matched with a beautiful silk scarf adding to that sweetness. To finish, Long used Unite Super Stay products, which is a combination of vegan ingredients only – wow looking fab is really feeling fab.
The music a la Francais was icing on the cake.
An array of looks to filter through over the next few months:
1. Be set to see ankle length tight woollen trousers with fine tailoring.
2. Pleats and lots of them in all forms of skirts
3. Mixing of fabrics
4. Texture…no flat numbers!
5. Asymmetric lines – a new kind of definition
6. And lots of Eun Jeong!!
